Key progress has been made in recycling equipment for waste solar panels, supporting the sustainable development of the photovoltaic industry

With the surge in global demand for clean energy, the solar energy industry is developing rapidly. However, solar panels typically have a lifespan of 25 to 30 years, and a large number of early installed solar panels are gradually entering the scrap period. According to the International Energy Agency's forecast, the weight of photovoltaic modules that need to be recycled and processed globally will reach about 8 million tons by 2030, and this number is expected to approach 80 million tons by 2050. If waste solar panels are not handled properly, harmful substances such as heavy metals can contaminate soil and water sources; On the other hand, solar panels contain valuable resources such as silicon, silver, copper, etc. Recycling and reusing them can reduce the exploitation of new resources. Therefore, the recycling and disposal of waste solar panels is urgently needed.

Recently, China has made significant breakthroughs in the field of waste solar panel recycling equipment. The first 10000 ton containerized intelligent photovoltaic module recycling demonstration line independently developed by China Energy saving Solar Energy Co., Ltd. has officially started operation in Jianli City, Jingzhou City, Hubei Province, China. This demonstration line innovatively adopts a mobile container design, which can be flexibly deployed to various project sites to achieve on-site recycling of glass, aluminum frames, junction boxes and other components in waste photovoltaic modules, greatly reducing transportation costs. At the same time, the demonstration line comprehensively applies multiple intelligent technologies to accurately identify and locate various components of waste photovoltaic modules, automatically adjust and optimize process parameters, with a dismantling efficiency of up to 60 pieces/hour. The purity of the recovered products such as aluminum frames and glass exceeds 99%. The entire process from component loading to component recycling is CNC and automated, and the technical process is at the leading level in the industry. In addition, through the built-in sound insulation cotton and end dust removal device, no waste liquid or exhaust gas emissions are achieved during operation, truly achieving environmentally friendly recycling.

The research and development achievements of waste solar panel recycling equipment provide strong support for the sustainable development of the photovoltaic industry. They not only help solve the environmental problems caused by waste solar panels, but also achieve resource recycling, reduce the dependence of the photovoltaic industry on new resources, and promote the development of the photovoltaic industry towards a greener and more environmentally friendly direction. In the future, with the continuous advancement and improvement of technology, waste solar panel recycling equipment is expected to be widely used worldwide, contributing to the construction of a sustainable energy system.
